How do volunteers help at HorsePower?

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Support students during lessons as either Head Walkers or Side Walkers
    • Head walkers are directly responsible for the horse, they may help groom/tack/warm-up horses, provide all cues or partial cues to the horse dependent upon the student's ability to communicate with their horse
    • Side walkers are directly responsible for the student, they may provide physical support for students with difficultly remaining balanced, and they are act as "mini-instructors" helping the student work on various riding skills
  • Spread the word about HorsePower in the community
    • Recruitment of students
    • Recruitment of volunteers
    • Seeking new donors/sponsors
  • Completing projects at HorsePower/helping with the facility
  • Community service projects
    • High School community service requirements
