​Emeritus - Don Clanton

PhD (Professor Emeritus University of Nebraska)

Don was raised on a sheep and cattle ranch in northwest South Dakota.  Following a short time in the Air Force Aviation Cadet training program, he attended college at Colorado A&M (Colorado State University) receiving a BS degree in Animal Husbandry in June 1949.  Don also received a MS degree from Montana State University and a PhD in Range Livestock Nutrition from Utah State University.

Dr. Clanton spent 32 years with the University of Nebraska teaching Animal Science courses and conducting research in Beef Cattle Nutrition and Management.  Following retirement from the University he chose to live in Elbert County moving to Douglas County in 2005.

Dr. Clanton joined the HorsePower program as a volunteer in 2006 and later was asked to serve on the board with a primary interest in the horses.  He has served on many boards at the local, state and national levels.

Member- Sharon Mushkin

​Member - Mark Renn

​Mark Renn runs his own consulting company, The CS Team, which is located in the Denver Tech Center.   He has for the last 23 years managed and operated his own company.   The CS Team consists of a highly qualified staff that provides Career services to Executive and Professionals.

Mark has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and also is a RCC (Registered Career Consultant) as well as having a CMP ( Career Management Professional).

Along with running his company he has been actively involved in a number of community non-profit organizations, which includes being the Chair for the Denver /Boulder BBB Foundation, the Chair for the Denver/Boulder BBB, in addition has been or is active in a number of organizations including CSPHC, CBC, IACCF and the GOA.

Along with his current position and activity Mark and Leigh own and manage the ranch that Horsepower operates on.   On the ranch they raise Dexter Cattle, Peruvian Horses and Llama’s. Mark grew up on a Dairy farm in northern Wisconsin and has been with Cattle and Horses through most of his life. As they say “you can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy”.

Mark has three daughters; Corine her and her husband and son reside in Texas, Kristel she lives in Madison, Wisconsin and Elise living in Denver, Colorado.

​Member - Ed Robinson

Born in Denver a third generation Coloradoan, Ed spent most of his school years in the Denver, Golden and Lakewood areas. He was introduced to horses at a very young age and developed a passion for training horse and instructing children. Thirty years of his life has been dedicated to this passion.  

After spending several years in the banking business, both personal and commercial lending areas, Ed developed an interest in Real Estate. He began his Real Estate career over 16 years ago with a primary focus on marketing Equine properties, both residential and commercial. He has been privileged to have represented some of the finest equine properties on the front range.  

Some of his greatest honors were to have been selected to participate as board member of  the National Western Stock Show, CASHA, RMHSA, Colorado Business Council, current President of the Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce and currently serving as chairman of the Corporate Sponsorship Committee of the Douglas Elbert Board or Realtors.  

Ed's current endeavor is developing Team Town and Country as a proud Managing Broker at Re/Max Professionals Castle Pines. He is a proud member of the 100% Club and Re/Max Hall of Fame. 

Member - Michael Brooks

Michael Brooks has lived in Colorado for the past fourteen years after living in several areas of the US. He and his wife Cindy, have two sons, Nathan and Alex.

Michael is one of the leaders in Deloitte Consulting’s analytics and information management practice where he works with leading healthcare organizations across the US and internationally. Prior to working with Deloitte Consulting, Michael had previous experience with Ernst & Young, Unisys, and a variety of start-up organizations. He has a BS in Accounting and MBA from Appalachian State University.

Michael has been an active supporter in the community through non-profits including Boy Scouts of America, the 2018 Warrior Games, Wish for Wheels, Fisher House, and other organizations. His interests include flyfishing, hiking, camping, and exerciseType your paragraph here.

Treasurer - Theresa Echols

Theresa is a Colorado native and has resided in Castle Rock with her husband Cliff since 1968.  She  retired from the Douglas County School District in 2010 after 21 years in the finance department.  

Theresa has horses, a few head of cattle, cats and dogs all of which keep her busy.  She is most happy at home with her animals and traveling is limited.  A wonderful day is a trail ride with friends seeing  elk, deer, antelope and coyotes and all this in pastures close to home.  Life is good on a horse.  Her belief is that a horse has a calming, comforting effect that enriches the rider, care giver or even the bystander.  Horses touch the heart and heal the soul.

Theresa looks forward to serving as Treasurer and knows that volunteering time and effort brings a sense of happiness.

Sharon H Mushkin was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration - Marketing & Sales from Arizona State University.  She has lived in Denver for over 38 years and has two children; Elizabeth and Lucas.

Sharon is currently the Program Coordinator at Denver Health Hospital for Newborns In Need.  She has been coordinationg the program since January 2015.  The program provides families with a "Warm Welcome" bag, which contains all of the essential items, needed to care for their newborn baby.  She works with over 1700 volunteers annually who give over 3400 hours to the program.  Previously to working at Denver Health, Sharon was a National Key Account Manager in the Wholesale Clothing industry for over 30 years.

​Sharon has been actively involved in a number of non-profit organizations since 1990.  They include Creative Adoptions, Colorado Ballet Guild, Delta Delta Delta Alumni Sorority, Shoah Foundation for Visual History, Allied Jewish Federation, Hebrew Educational Alliance, Beacon Hill Condo Association and the Holocaust Awareness Institute at the Center for Judaic Studies at the University of Denver.

​President - Lynette Roff

​Lynette A. Roff, President of the Board of Directors, is the retired (March 2015) Director of the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System and was responsible for providing comprehensive health care to more than 85,000 veterans in 15 different locations of care in the front range of Colorado. She was the Director of that organization from October 2005 to March 2015. As Chief Executive Officer, she was responsible for a $900 million budget, more than 3,000 employees and overseeing overall day-to-day operations and strategic planning for the organization. As part of her responsibilities she was a board member on the $5 million not for profit Denver Research Institute.

Ms. Roff began her career as a dietetic intern at the Bronx VA. She became a dietician and progressed into leadership in a number of VA Medical Centers in Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York, and Colorado. Her leadership skills have paved the way for executive leadership roles including Operations Manager of the first Veteran Integrated Service Network (VISN); VISN 8 in Florida, and Deputy Director at the James A Haley VA Medical Center.

Ms. Roff received a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of South Florida. She is Board Certified in Healthcare Management by the American College of Healthcare Executives and is member of the VA’s National Resource Committee.

Ms. Roff has been with Horsepower since 2009. She currently spends time volunteering her time to Horsepower, Inc. and Dress for Success.
