Welcome To HorsePower
Colorado HorsePower is a non-profit organization that is designed to meet the needs of our community by providing equine therapy and teaching horsemanship to individuals with special needs. Whether these needs stem from mental, emotional or physical challenges, we are here to address those needs and provide a comfortable setting for an enriching experience to those individuals.
The benefits of equine therapy are unsurpassed; as we provide a safe and open environment for these individuals through therapeutic activities and help create a connection between both the horse and individual. Witnessing the bonds between both the horse and rider.
HorsePower, Inc. was founded by Joseph Howard (Castle Rock Civitan Member) as a project for special needs children in the Castle Rock, CO Elementary schools. HorsePower, Inc. was formed Dec. 27, 1984 and is a member of PATH (Proffesional Association of Theraputic Horsemanship).
HorsePower is a therapeutic riding facility located in Douglas County, just South of Castle Rock. Our programs run year round with four sessions, winter, spring, summer and fall. We have indoor and outdoor arena facilities and provide both group and individual lessons. We match our students to the type of therapy that is needed and place them in the groups that are constructive to their needs.
We encompass qualified equine therapy instructors, an active volunteer board of directors and volunteers that are committed to our programs and the essence of our programs. Our volunteers provide the necessary assistance to allow our students to have the proper and safe environment that is needed. For many of the riders, it is the highlight of their week, and it is the same for many of the the volunteers.
